For Relaxation & Unwinding: Watsu technique is a passive form of aquatic bodywork/therapy that supports and gently moves a person through warm water in graceful, fluid movements. Watsu promotes a deep state of relaxation with dramatic changes in the autonomic nervous system. Through quieting the sympathetic and enhancing the parasympathetic nervous systems, Watsu also has profound effects on the neuromuscular system.
For Neuromuscular Re-education: therapist-assisted pattern type exercises are performed while the patient lies horizontal in the water, with support provided by rings or floats around the neck, arms, pelvis, and knees. The therapist uses an aquatic version of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF).
For Meditation & balance: Ai Chi uses diaphragmatic breathing and active progressive resistance training in water to relax and strengthen the body, based on elements of qigong and Tai chi chuan.
For Chronic pain and restored mobility: Aquastretch technique is a clinically proven, ground-breaking technique that restores mobility, decreases pain, increases exercise training efficiency, improves sports performance, and improves general well-being. AquaStretch™ is a hands-on, holistic, myofascial release technique that uses the buoyancy, weighted resistance, and prescribed methodology to produce outstanding results from athletic performance to rehabilitation. People experience dramatic restoration of range of motion as well as reduced pain, increased relaxation, and better sleep.
